Ministry of Food and Agriculture bans the importation of frozen chicken

The Ministry of Food & Agriculture has banned the importation of day-old chicks, frozen chicken, poultry feed, hatching eggs, and poultry products from Europe with immediate effect.

This comes after the confirmed outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza subtype H5N8 in the following European countries: Netherlands, Germany, Russia, Denmark, United Kingdom.

The decision to issue the ban was based on advice from the Veterinary Services Directorate.
