The military government of Burkina Faso has announced plans to construct a gold refinery with the purpose of stopping the export of unrefined gold.
The projects is set to refine the nation’s gold locally and update the mining code to improve control over natural resources.
The review of the mining code and the establishment of a refinery project to refine gold from Burkina are two other issues that may allow Burkina Faso to benefit from its mining resources.
“The Council also gave instructions to carry out due diligence on certain issues to know exactly the gold content in Burkina and what the industrial companies exploit as a volume of gold in the country,” stated the Minister in charge of mines, Simon Pierre Boussim.
